International Infection Prevention Week (IIPW) occurs globally from October 14 – 20 and raises awareness of the role infection prevention plays in improving patient safety.
The 2018 theme, “Protecting Patients Everywhere,” emphasizes how keeping patients safe from infection is everyone’s responsibility. Whether you’re in a healthcare facility or in the community, there are things you can do to help prevent infections; these can include simple activities, such as washing your hands frequently and getting your flu shot. Help us spread information about how to stay safe from germs by going viral!
To heighten awareness of the need to protect patients from healthcare-associated infections, our Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAI) Program, in collaboration with our partners, will invite Arizona healthcare facilities to help us celebrate the lives saved this past year. To help us celebrate, send us a photo of the creative ways you and your team protect patients everywhere and get featured on our hall of fame page.
Governor Doug Ducey has also taken part in this campaign by declaring October 14 – 20 as Arizona Infection Prevention Week.
