I shared last week how the end of the state’s COVID-19 Declaration of Emergency changes what our COVID-19 Data Dashboard carries for hospital-reported data. A surveillance order through which some of this information was reported to ADHS is no longer in effect.
As a result, the dashboard entries for Hospital COVID-19 Specific Metrics, and Ventilator Usage and Availability are no longer being updated. Ventilator usage has remained at 40% or below of current supply since Jan. 18. We have continued to see decreased use in ventilators for both COVID and non-COVID patients. Hospital Bed Usage and Availability no longer has information specific to COVID-19 patients or reports emergency room use.
Starting with this week’s update, the Hospital Bed Usage and Availability entry incorporates general inpatient and intensive care unit bed usage data that the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) has arranged to receive from participating hospitals. Not all hospitals have entered into the program as of yet; however, new hospitals are continually being added so that more complete information can be obtained and the dashboard can provide a window into the state of occupancy in our hospitals
ADHS works closely with our hospitals to monitor and respond to trends. COVID-19 hospitalizations, COVID-like illness, and flu-like illness continue to be reported on the dashboard based on information provided by hospitals.
