The new eWIC is officially live in a beautiful new clinic in Casa Grande. WIC families will receive the same foods but shop using the new Arizona eWIC card rather than paper checks. Moms will find that eWIC is flexible and convenient as they can buy their WIC foods as needed and families will carry all their benefits on one card.

The entire WIC team played a critical role in this project. Their work has been consumed with reviewing Business Requirement Documents, driving throughout the state to collect UPC at grocery stores, sitting in the testing rooms to do quality assurance, developing eWIC materials, drafting reports for the region and national headquarters, developing training materials, replacing more than 500 computers throughout the state to prepare for eWIC, and the list goes on.

The Arizona WIC Program provides healthy food, nutrition education, and breastfeeding support to more than 135,000 moms, babies, and children each month. WIC is for all working or non-working moms and moms-to-be who meet certain income requirements – in fact, we serve over half of all infants born in Arizona. Our WIC program has nutrition experts who can educate moms to make healthy choices for their families. Our staff includes nutritionists, lactation consultants, and peers – all ready to listen, share information, provide guidance and support to families, and connect moms with resources outside of WIC.

Stay tuned as we gear up for the statewide implementation this fall. Congratulations to all involved in this major success!
