Physical activity is fun, can be done anywhere and anytime, and can have positive benefits to your health. From now until the end of July, the Arizona Department of Health Services’ AZ Health Zone is featuring a new public awareness campaign called “Every. Day. Active.” The campaign includes statewide digital ads and social media that shows families from all over Arizona having fun being active together. ADHS also expanded the AZ Health Zone website with information based on newly released national guidelines that encourages families to be more physically active.
The updated AZ Health Zone website includes an interactive map of parks and trails and community gardens that families can visit to enjoy the outdoors while being active. The website features tips for brain breaks and active games for families as well as ideas on how to get started with being more active. The website also has information about finding a local AZ Health Zone program in each county.
The AZ Health Zone is a nutrition education and obesity prevention grant program administered by the Arizona Department of Health Services and is funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture to provide obesity prevention programs for SNAP recipients and other eligible low-income individuals. The AZ Health Zone supports moms and communities across Arizona to make healthy changes in homes and in communities. The AZ Health Zone provides families with options for being active and healthy by promoting community gardens and working with schools to create healthy environments.
