ureau of EMS and Trauma System launched the Acute Traumatic Pain Management Training Module online on July 21. The Module is part of the Bureau’s participation in a five-state National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) grant project including Arizona, Idaho, Kansas, Tennessee, and Wyoming.
The purpose of the project is to evaluate how states implement statewide prehospital treatment guidelines. Funds from the grant purchased the learning management system that can be used to launch additional topics online. EMS professionals receive one-hour of continuing education credit by participating in the Module and passing the post-test.
As of July 27, a total of 178 EMS professionals from across the state have accessed the Module with many more to follow as word of the training spreads and favorable feedback increases.
It’s good that these training initiatives are increasingly being put forward online. With most people working in healthcare having access to a computer or mobile device, it is much easier to fit continuing education into a busy life. I prefer to complete training modules online when I can as I have a family and don’t often have the time to attend full day courses in person.
