Public Health Licensing is celebrating a major accomplishment. The Medical Team was recognized by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for achieving a perfect score of 100 percent on our contract deliverables. We were notified of the achievement last fall and today we are happy to receive our new certificate.
Most of you know that our medical licensing team issues state licenses and investigates complaints to ensure patients are safe in the various health care institutions across our state. But a big part of their day-to-day task involves executing a significant CMS contract.
CMS contracts with licensing to certify that health care institutions are meeting CMS requirements, a key component necessary for reimbursement for the services these institutions provide. Often times that means balancing state responsibilities and federal requirements, keeping busy going from facility to facility, looking at complaints from different standards, all while working with our federal partners.
It’s a large task and one that our medical team performed to the highest standard. Join me in congratulating the team on a job well done.
