With the New Year just days away you might be like me, considering what you will resolve to do in 2017. Many times we set out to eat better and be more active but sometimes lose steam throughout the year. To be successful, divide big and vague goals like, “I will eat better” into smaller and more specific goals like, “I will eat one more vegetable every day.” Remember, while your goals should be challenging, they should also be reachable. Visit www.ChooseMyPlate.gov to create your own personalized plan for healthy eating and active living in the New Year.

I’m happy to say I kept up my 2016 resolution to eat a healthy diet and increase our family physical activity. But, with any resolution, there’s always room for improvement. This year, my goals include eating one more serving of fruits or vegetables each day and controlling portion size.
We will highlight several other health tips you can incorporate into your New Year’s resolution list in the coming weeks. Check back here on the blog and visit us on social media to learn more. I hope you join me in finding your best health in 2017!
