We want to reassure Arizona families that the Arizona Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program will continue to be open and available for them in the event of a federal government shutdown.
We know discussion of a possible shutdown can be concerning to those who rely on WIC benefits to feed their families, but ADHS has worked to ensure Arizona WIC participants will maintain access to their nutrition benefits.
We anticipate no immediate impact on the Arizona WIC program even if the federal government shuts down at the start of the fiscal new year on Sunday, Oct. 1.
The Arizona WIC Program will continue serving WIC participants until further notice. All Arizona WIC Program clinics are open and serving clients, and WIC participants can use their WIC benefits at any WIC-authorized store.
We’ll continue monitoring the situation and make any changes necessary to minimize the disruption to the program. WIC participants can contact their local WIC clinic, visit azwic.gov or call 1-800-252-5942 if they have any questions.
We are committed to providing this vital service to Arizona families, ensuring the babies, children, and pregnant people in our state have access to the WIC foods, breastfeeding support, and nutrition education they need.
