Finding reliable, local public health data just got a lot easier. The Arizona Department of Health Services announced the public launch of Community Profiles, a new interactive tool that brings critical information about Arizona communities into one clear, easy to use experience.

Community Profiles allow local officials, researchers, nonprofit organizations, and the public to explore up to date data on demographics, health outcomes, healthcare access, workforce availability, facilities, and environmental conditions. Instead of searching across multiple websites or reports, users can now see the full picture of a community in one place.

“Community Profiles bring interactive data and maps together on a single website,” said Nicole Eiden, GIS Manager at ADHS. “By bringing hundreds of indicators into one place, it helps people quickly see what is happening in a community, where gaps exist, and where action can make the greatest impact.”

The new application builds on the Public Health Data Portal launched last year, which centralized ADHS dashboards, reports, and analytics tools. Community Profiles takes the next step by translating statewide data into local insight and enabling easy comparisons between communities, counties, and Arizona as a whole.

The tool includes more than 281 indicators per community, with select datasets updated near real time. Built-in features such as guided tours, printable views, metadata, and data downloads make it useful for everyone from first time users to experienced analysts.

Community Profiles offer practical information people can use right away. Users can find nearby primary care, dental, and mental health providers, identify hospitals and long term care facilities, and during Arizona’s hottest months, locate cooling centers to stay safe from extreme heat.

Community Profiles is available now through the ADHS Public Health Data Portal. A recorded walkthrough from the GIS team is also available for users who want a guided introduction.
