International Infection Prevention Week (IIPW) raises awareness of the role infection prevention plays to improve patient safety and promotes the belief that everyone plays a role in infection prevention. As IIPW expands, more patients benefit from safer healthcare practices and reduced threat of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs). In response to this important need, the Governor of Arizona has declared October 18-24 as Arizona Infection Prevention Week!
As a result, Arizona Department of Health Services has partnered with the Arizona HAI Advisory Committee, Grand Canyon Chapter of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC), and The Arizona Partnership for Immunization (TAPI) in a state wide influenza vaccination and hand hygiene campaign. Through their efforts, our HAI Program was able to support over 60 healthcare facilities’ IIPW activities with campaign materials and information.
The goal of IIPW in Arizona is to enhance the awareness needed to protect everyone from infections. Don’t forget that proper hand washing can stop the spread of germs and flu vaccination is still the best tool currently available to protect you against the flu. For more information please visit our HAI IIPW webpage and remember infection prevention is everyone’s business!
