Loss of a woman during pregnancy, at delivery, or soon after delivery is devastating. Arizona has been making great strides this year in its efforts to tackle the rates of maternal morbidity and mortality throughout Arizona. One of those actions was the passage of Senate Bill 1040 that established an Advisory Committee on Maternal Fatalities and Morbidity.
The objective of this committee was to review current program activities and recommend improvements to information collection concerning the incidence and causes of maternal fatalities and severe maternal morbidity. The Committee first convened in August and has met several times to develop recommendations.
On Wednesday, October 30, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., ADHS will hold a public hearing to provide an opportunity for the public to learn more about the draft recommendations and to provide comments. The meeting will be held at the ADHS State Laboratory, 250 N 17th Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85007.
