Booster seats dramatically lower the risk of suffering internal damage, serious spinal injury or worse for kids between 5 and 8 years old.  In  fact, 100% of kids ages 5-8, who were killed in Arizona car crashes in 2010 weren’t restrained in a booster seat.   

For years, the AZ’s Child Fatality Review Team recommended a booster seat law to require children ages 5-8 to be in a booster seat.  As the result of hard work from many community organizations, a booster seat law was passed and signed- and it took effect last week. It requires kids 5 through 8 years old to be in a child-restraint system like a booster seat.  Without a booster seat, seat belts sit too high on a kid’s belly causing unnecessary internal injury risk.  Remember, buckling up (the right way) on every ride is the single most important thing a family can do to stay safe in the car.
